Have you ever had a moment where you thought to yourself, I wonder how I can give back? To your community, to other women, to those in need? Have you ever wondered how you could get involved to make an impact big or small to those around you? Do you often wonder where you can begin?
Like you, Junior League of Northwest Arkansas, Active Member Crystal Butler was missing something in her life. During her search for something more, and a little help from her friend, she came across a group of women who empowered each other, promoted volunteerism, and worked hard to educate the local community on Domestic Violence awareness and prevention. She loved what she saw and took a leap of faith and joined the League. Since becoming a member, Crystal says she has flourished and grown in so many ways.
“I joined the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas in 2011. I was at the point in my life where work was sort of taking over. I had stayed in town after college, and most of my friends had moved back to their hometowns or out of state. I missed the connection to the community I had in college. I volunteered regularly then and was involved in everything on campus, so meeting new people was not a problem then. By 2011, it was. A friend who was a member told me I should think about joining and should come to the Prospective New Member Meeting. At the meeting, I met so many ladies who just like me wanted to meet new people and make a difference in their community. I met my tribe!
The Junior League of Northwest Arkansas has made me more confident in everything I do. It has given me the strength and confidence to try anything and push myself to be better. I would not be the person I am today if I had not walked in to that New Member meeting.”
A Native from the Diamond Capitol of the South, (Murfreesboro, Arkansas,) Crystal is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and has a successful career with Walmart. She has worn many different hats within her years of service with the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas. For the 2016-2017 League Year, Crystal will be a Provisional Trainer assisting Provisional Members with learning about Junior League and providing guidance to make their first League experience meaningful and fulfilling. Crystal, her husband Charlie, and their fur babies call Springdale home.
