Serve Our SheltersThe goal is to provide funding and direct service hours to partner agencies that are projects planned and then implemented in one day.
Organize and host Thanksgiving, Easter and Graduation receptions for the children. Many of the children do not come from homes where they learn about or celebrate holidays and traditions. Purchase and organize materials for student scrapbooks and art supplies. Teachers use the scrapbooks to help the children create a positive identity and for them to take to a new foster home. Children's House supplies the photos and developing. Coordinate planning process for refurbishing the playground at Children's House. Peace at Home Family Shelter provides emergency shelter to women and children who are victims of domestic violence in Northwest Arkansas. Refurbish the interior rooms of the shelter. Project will include coordinating with agency to determine plan of action and then holding a Saturday work day at which League members provide the labor to complete the project. Funding will be used for paint, supplies and items needed to finish rooms. Direct funding for shelter to purchase education and outreach materials. Build agency capacity by facilitating a NWA Family Violence Coalition. Coalition goal is to reduce duplication of services, identify effective uses of League resources and create community wide partnerships to increase effectiveness of family/domestic violence work in our community. |
Partner agencies include Children's House and Peace at Home Family Shelter. Children's House provides therapeutic pre-school to 20-25 children in Washington County each year that are from abusive homes. Children's House gives each child a daily stable and safe environment in which to learn and grow.
