Junior League Community PartnersWe, as a league of women, focus on improving the quality of life for the women and children of Northwest Arkansas with an emphasis on domestic violence awareness and prevention. The League's 2003-2004 partners include Children's House, Havenwood, Restoration Village, Project for Victim's of Family Violence Women's Shelter, The Real Women Project with Washington Regional Medical System, Healthcare Action Project for Family Violence Prevention and That's My Bag Suitcases for Foster Children. Our resources- people, time and money- are placed in partnership with other organizations to develop or enhance programs that meet the specific needs in Northwest Arkansas. The Junior League works to act as a catalyst or assist in the "birthing" of a project that meets these needs by forming a partnership and then through a process of leadership and program development, equipping the partnering organization to become self-sustaining or finding a home for a project that is long term and self sustaining. It is our hope that someday our community will be free from domestic violence and abuse. By making our community aware of the problem and giving victims an alternative, we are making a difference. League members hope that through our efforts victims will know that there is a way out and a better life waiting. Through the dedication and work of our membership and community partners, we hope to build a better community for everyone in Northwest Arkansas. |
